Tucked away off of Grand Avenue right outside of the heart of downtown Des Moines sits a well-loved space in the community, the Des Moines Art Center.
Photographers love it for the gorgeous grounds, creators and makers are continually amazed at the Center’s class offerings and visitors pop in regularly to check out the changing exhibitions.
Over the last six months, our hummingbirds have gotten the opportunity to discover why the Art Center is such a staple in the Des Moines community.
Like some of our previous partners, the Des Moines Art Center opted to collaborate with the hummingbirds on a longer basis in order to build sustainable growth around their brand. From July through December, 25+ different birds were given the opportunity to attend Art Center events and classes.
Birds enjoyed Dinner on the Dock where they had an opportunity to hear about the process of the Art Center’s traveling exhibits while dining on a dinner inspired by various collections.
Other hummingbirds, clad in black and gripping flashlights, roamed the Art Center after hours for an Art Noir Flashlight tour.
The other bird experiences included things like yoga, ornament classes and solo museum exploration. The diversity in experiences offered, coupled with a longer partnership period, allowed the Des Moines Art Center to create a powerful impact online. Each time birds attended an event, they would share about it online with their friends and family. Those posts add up and after six months, our hummingbirds collectively reached 76,000 of their followers.
The city of Des Moines is so greatly connected that many people have several mutual friends in common. This means followers of our birds likely saw posts about the Art Center more than once popping up in their feed. Repetition builds brand awareness trust. As more and more people saw the tagline #entirelyunexpected showing up in their feed, they were more motivated to discover for themselves what the buzz surrounding the Art Center was all about. This led to a click on the Art Center’s website or maybe even a stop by the museum for a visit.
One social media post may not seem like much. But you never know the impact it could make for your brand. People are interested in other people: what they are doing, where they are going, even what they had for dinner. And more often than not, they trust them over other traditional marketing tools. When businesses and organizations invest in the DSM Hummingbirds, they are investing in what we like to call community marketing, a grassroots, locally-driven approach to building a legacy brand.
Something we strongly believe over here at Brand Launch is that relationships are a long game but SO WORTH IT. Build a strong community around your brand and apply for our hummingbird services today!
